The Church of Mercy's primary purpose is to establish solid, Bible based churches that will be here for generations to come! By God's grace we have thus far established two churches in the villages of Prek Ambel in Kandal province and Sre Trang in Kampot province. Please read below for more details about our two churches.
Prek Ambel is a village located about 30 miles south of Phnom Penh the capital of Cambodia. The church began in the home of Chheng's sister in 1999. Since that time, the church has continued to grow and now numbers around 100 men, women, and children.
With God's help they have purchased land for the church grounds and constructed a church building complete with Sunday school rooms, a clean water well, and the church sanctuary. The Prek Ambel Training Center (PATC), which is currently under construction, is also located in Prek Ambel on the church property behind the sanctuary. Please pray for the village of Prek Ambel that it would continue to be open to the Word of God.
Sre Trang is a small farming village located about 100 miles southwest of Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia. The Church of Mercy began its work in Sre Trang in the year 2000. Pastor Chheng was visiting his mother-in-law, who lives nearby Sre Trang, when he met a man named Ngan. Ngan had come to know the Lord a few years earlier through the Food for the Hungry program which was working in the area. After talking and sharing their faith with one another, Ngan asked Chheng to consider starting a church in the area. And by God's grace, Chheng did start a church in the small farming village.
In the years since, God has enabled the church to purchase a piece of land and to build a church building for worship. Ngan has completed one year of study at the PATC and has been ordained as the pastor of the Sre Trang Church of Mercy. He and Chheng stay in close contact as do the Sre Trang and Prek Ambel churches. The church travels to the village of Prek Ambel two times a year for a church conference. This is a wonderful time of fellowship and encouragement between the two churches. They continue to grow in faith and number, which is now around 60 men, women and children.
Please pray for the believers in Sre Trang to grow strong in the Faith. Pray that many in the area will come to know Jesus Christ and worship the Creator as the only true and living God.
